Excited for the upcoming F1 night race? Sharing with you some info to get ready:

Date: September 21-22, 2019

Championship: September 22, 2019

Time: 8:10 PM

Track: Marina Bay Circuit

Host: Singapore Grand Prix

Last Year’s Winner: Lewis Hamilton of United Kingdom, Mercedes Team

The F1 night race is held once every year since it started last September 2008.

As per normal, the event is equipped with so much fun. An outdoor concert is usually enjoyed right after the announcement of winners. This year, there will be performances by Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gwen Stefani, Hans Zimmer and many more. Also, F3 race, rovings acts, apparel shops, freebies, exhibits and food stalls will be on site to guarantee enjoyment.

For safety, medics, ambulance and police are deployed everywhere.

Some fans I've known dined at a restaurant situated at the top of CBD buildings. They got great food as well as panoramic track view. But personally, a grandstand perspective is enough for an eye candy experience. It is complete with a gorgeous city backdrop. Otherwise, a walkabout for budget conscious is already decent.

Here are some photo of the last year’s:

Ticket prices significantly varies according to preferences such as your selected category of experience, view and zone access. Price can shoot as high as 9,500 and as low as 40 Singapore dollar.

*My tip is to get a zone where the road turns so you can catch a glimpse of the car in slower motion. It will be good for the camera to adjust with the speed as well.

I’m not really a fan of masculine stuffs and that include automobiles. I grew up girly-girly. But my sister was an opposite. She loves fast cars and had been a fan of car racing for many years. In fact, she watches car relay competition on TV religiously. She even memorised most of the Formula 1 auto racing team and drivers. However, it took her years to finally got the chance to watch the actual race.

Here in Singapore, the world famous F1 car racing is only held weekend night. My sister, as an avid fan, got a package of 3 nights tickets. Unfortunately, Friday for her was a busy time in the office. So she called me to replace her attendance.

The pass she purchased was a walkabout. That means, I will not have a seat as a spectator. Rather, I will have to walk, stand and make my way for a good view of the race. Although, the allotted portion of the road for the ‘walkers’ is just small, I had a great time. Just hearing the zoom of every car heightened my adrenaline. It excites me and I was really enjoying even if I am all alone. Also, large screens are installed in selected points for the people to have a good view of the distant action.

The track was in the central business district. Surely, other than the road and the crowd, the racers have a good scene of the gorgeous buildings, lights and bridges.

Friday was only a practice race. Even though, the drivers are already competitive as it will determine their lane allocation for the championship night - which is always held on a Sunday.

Although the crowd is huge (mainly after-office people and tourists), I believe it is more during Saturday and Sunday. There were also volunteered medics who are stationed in case of accidents.

As soon as the race was over, I thought of going home straight. The public transportation during the event was altered at a reasonable distance. Despite they closed few of the roads, the walk going to my nearest bus stop is as usual scenic.

I tried passing through an underpass and saw the other side of the circuit. I explored the area and found an exhibit of vintage cars. Acquainting myself with each is like a bonus for my ticket.

At 11 p.m., I’m on the phone excitedly talking about my experience to my sister. I knew for a second that she is already enough than having more sisters. After I said ‘Good night’, I bet she wasn’t able to get enough sleep.
